On Monday 25 September, the FIS managers of the European Cup sector met at in Sestriere with the staff and management of the Organising Committee of the event that will be held on the slopes of the Vialattea in the 2023/2024 ski season. Two women’s European Cup races are scheduled: Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 January 2024. The athletes of the prestigious European circuit will compete in two giant slalom races.
I am satisfied with this meeting, which throws us into the heart of the organisational phase. When we were first contacted to verify the opportunity to include Sestriere as a venue for the European Cup – commented Gualtiero Brasso, head of the Sporting Club Sestrieres Organising Committee – we immediately showed our interest and we are pleased that the FIS has assigned these competitions to our resort. The Sporting Club Sestrieres is always ready to get involved and host competitive events within the international circuits.
The competition venue will be the historic Kandahar Giovanni Alberto Agnelli slope, home to countless international competitions of the highest level. On this same slope, during the last winter season, two Alpine Ski World Cup races were held and crowned the Piedmontese champion Marta Bassino queen of the giant slalom.
