THE 41ST UOVO D'ORO LAURETANA
HITS THE SLOPES IN SESTRIERE

22 March 2024

The 2023/2024 racing season on the Vialattea slopes comes to an end with a week full of competitions dedicated to young skiers.

It starts on Saturday 30 March with the 41st Uovo d’Oro Lauretana, the traditional Easter event organised by the Sporting Club Sestrieres, and continues, from 2 to 4 April, with the final stage of the 46th Granpremio Giovanissimi Kinder Joy of Moving organised by the Associazione Maestri Sci Italiani together with the Scuola Nazionale Sci & Snowboard of Sestriere.

It will be a week of great sport and fun that will involve thousands of young skiers who, together with their families, will choose to spend the Easter period on the spring snows of Sestriere, taking advantage of the excellent snow in this final part of the ski season.

In particular, the 41st Uovo d’Oro Lauretana is a Giant Slalom race, included in the FISI national calendar and also open to foreign competitors, which every year attracts over 1,500 young skiers to Sestriere ready to compete for the prestigious trophy.  Athletes belonging to the Super Baby (born 2017-16), Baby (2015-14), Cuccioli (2013-12), Ragazzi (2011-10) and Allievi (2009-08) categories can participate. Each category will have its own dedicated race track. Five tracks will be set up in the Alpette area, all of which will converge into a single finish parterre. As a sweet wish for a happy Easter, all participants will receive the classic chocolate egg and the rich race package with gadgets provided by the event’s prestigious partners.

For the awarding of the 41st Uovo d’Oro Lauretana trophy, the points (as per the World Cup tables) of the athletes with the best placing, one female and one male in each category, for each ski club, excluding the Super Baby category, will be added up. The ski club to beat is Sestriere, which won the trophy in the previous edition.

In the afternoon, there will be a cheerful and colourful parade of all the Ski Clubs through the streets of the village. The meeting point is Piazzale Kandahar – facing Casa Olimpia. Starting at 1.30 p.m., each Sci Club will collect its own identification sign and at 2 p.m. the parade through the village streets will begin, ending in Piazza Fraiteve where, at 2.30 p.m., the prize-giving ceremony will take place and the drawing of fantastic prizes for athletes and Sci Clubs.

The first 10 classified in each category, in addition to the classic cup and the beautiful prizes offered by the prestigious sponsors, will win the Rossignol windstopper customised for the event. In addition, the first place winner in each category will receive a Briko helmet as a prize. The luckiest ones who will be drawn at random will be able to win a voucher worth 2,500 euro offered by Vialattea in collaboration with the Centro Sci Torino for the purchase of a trip, sports equipment of various kinds, technological and leisure items, and many other surprise prizes!

Registration closes on Wednesday 27 March at 14.00.
