The 40th Uovo d’Oro Lauretana marked on Monday, April 10, an important milestone, and in order to celebrate the long-awaited anniversary, a large number of young skiers showed up on the slopes of Sestriere.
6 nations at the start reconfirmed the high level of the event on an international scale: Italy, France, Spain, Andorra, Switzerland and China! 96 Ski Clubs brought 1400 athletes to the starting gate of the giant slalom that as per tradition closes the Vialattea competitive season and this year also the ski season.
For such a special occasion Marta Bassino dedicated a video message to the young athletes competing. Definitely highly appreciated good luck for all participants.
Lots of competitiveness on the slope but above all lots of fun and cheer characterized the entire race day. Five giant slalom tracks were set up in the Alpette area, one next to the other, and the competitors went down at the same time, then found themselves all together in the finish parterre. A nice sponsor village was set up for the occasion, which provided entertainment for the public and participants. At the end of the race each athlete received the classic chocolate egg.
In the afternoon, all participants, grouped by ski club, paraded through the streets of the village and gathered in Fraiteve Square for the awards ceremony and drawing of the beautiful prizes. The top 10 in each category, in addition to the classic cup, won the Rossignol windstopper, personalized for the event, while the top finishers in each category won the Bollé helmet, also personalized 40th Uovo d’Oro Lauretana. The little champions were also able to breathe in the air of the Ski World Cup: Matteo and Francesca Marsaglia came up as special guests in order to congratulate the winners. The day ended with the grand drawing of the fantastic prizes for athletes, coaches and clubs and the awarding of the trophy to the winning club.
