The snow also arrived to welcome female athletes to the slopes of the Vialattea ski area.
There is great expectation for the double date with the women’s Alpine Skiing European Cup races to be held in Sestriere on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 January. The entire technical staff of the Sporting Club Sestrieres Organizing Committee is busy preparing the race course, which in these hours is affected by snowfall that will continue throughout the day.
The programme of the event is the same for the two days and foresees the start of the first run of the giant slalom at 10 am and the second run at 1 pm. The slope that will host the event is the Kandahar Giovanni Alberto Agnelli, a historical track that has written the exploits of the great champions of world skiing. It starts at an altitude of 2,360 metres, in the area of the mountain station of the new Cit Roc 6-seater chairlift, and arrives at an altitude of 2,040 metres at Colle del Sestriere, facing a difference in altitude of 320 metres.
The organisation of the European Cup,” commented Gualtiero Brasso, head of the Organising Committee of the Sporting Club Sestrieres, “is part of a wide-ranging programme of events that every year take place on the slopes of the Vialattea, from the competitions reserved for local and national ski clubs to prestigious events such as the Alpine Skiing World Cup: events that involve ski enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad and act as an important driving force for promoting tourism, taking the name of Sestriere, Piedmont and its Olympic mountains around the world.
Don’t miss the opportunity to spend a day on the slopes of the Vialattea and observe the competitive technique of the athletes up close. 80 female athletes representing 17 nations are expected at the starting gate.
