13th Sestriere Film Festival

On Monday, July 31, Paolo De Chiesa, president of Circolo Golf Sestrieres, honored young climber Federico Tomasi at the opening night of the 13th Sestriere Film Festival. The festival opened on Saturday, July 29, with the traditional Fanfara of the Taurinense Alpine Brigade. The international kermesse dedicated to mountain cinema, from this year supported by Vialattea, features every evening until August 5, stories, places and athletic achievements of notable personalities of the mountain world.

Aug. 1: Film in competition: Riccardo Bee’s The Last Route. Line 7000 – Smuggling People. From 9 p.m. at Cinema Fraiteve. Free admission.

Aug. 2: Special event with the Cottian Alps Protected Areas Management Authority. Guests, trivia and documentary “Champions of Biodiversity.” From 9 p.m. at Cinema Fraiteve. Free admission.

Aug. 3: Special evening dedicated to Walter Bonatti in collaboration with National Mountain Museum. Film out of competition: Gasherbrum IV. Film in competition: Connectado al terreno. Speed expeditions. From 9 p.m. at Cinema Fraiteve. Free admission.

Aug. 4: Films in competition “Traces,” “Bo and trash,” “Alptrees,” “Keepers of the borders,” “Eternal.” From 9 p.m. at Cinema Fraiteve. Free admission.

Aug. 5: Final evening with awards ceremony for competition winners. Film out of competition in collaboration with Film Commission Torino Piemonte “The Eight Mountains.” From 9 p.m. at Cinema Fraiteve. Free admission.

Aug. 6: Performance at Rifugio Alpette by Sestriere Film Festival. 11:30 a.m.: concert by Silvia Lorenzi “C ‘è Morricone nell’aria.” Free performance.
