TWO DAYS OF RACING TO CELEBRATE THE 42ND UOVO D'ORO LAURETANA

24 March 2025

Join us on March 29 and 30 in Sestriere for the 42nd edition of the Uovo d’Oro Lauretana, a two-day celebration of competitive skiing that marks the traditional end-of-season event for the Vialattea. The first day will feature races for older athletes in the Allievi and Ragazzi categories, while the second day will showcase the younger competitors in the Pulcini, Cuccioli, Baby, and Super-Baby categories. Due to the high number of participants—last year’s event attracted a record 2,039 athletes—this year’s event will span the entire weekend.

To avoid overlap with Easter, the 2025 edition has been brought forward, but the event’s spirit remains the same. Every participant will receive the iconic chocolate egg, and the top-ranking ski club will not only take home a trophy but also win a giant chocolate egg!

The 42nd Uovo d’Oro, proudly sponsored by Lauretana for the third consecutive year, is a Giant Slalom race organized by the Sporting Club Sestrieres with the support of the Sestriere Municipality. As part of the FISI national calendar, this event attracts both national and international competitors. Races will be held on the Olympic slopes of Mount Alpette, a venue that recently hosted Alpine Skiing World Cup events. A festive sponsor village will be set up in the finish area, offering exciting stands from prestigious companies to entertain both athletes and spectators.

To emphasize the significance of snow, mountains, and winter tourism in the region, the event is proudly sponsored by the Piedmont Region and the Piedmont Regional Council, both of whom have granted their patronage.

On Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., an awards ceremony will take place, followed by a prize drawing for athletes and ski clubs who participated on the first day of racing. On Sunday afternoon, the celebration continues with a vibrant parade of all the Ski Clubs through the village streets. The parade will begin at Piazzale Kandahar at 1:30 p.m., where each ski club will collect its identification sign, and at 2:00 p.m., the procession through the village streets will kick off. The parade will be accompanied by the Villar Perosa Musical Corps and will culminate in Piazza Fraiteve, where at 2:30 p.m., the second day’s awards ceremony and prize drawing will take place.

The top 10 finishers in each category will not only receive the traditional cup and beautiful prizes from our esteemed sponsors but also a special Rossignol windstopper customized for the event. Additionally, a lucky few will win amazing prizes through a random draw, including sports gear, technology, leisure items, and plenty of surprises!

To determine the winner of the 42nd Uovo d’Oro Lauretana trophy, points (as per the World Cup system) will be accumulated for the best placements—one female and one male athlete—from each ski club in every category (excluding the Super-Baby category). The reigning champion is Golden Team Ceccarelli, who claimed the trophy for the first time last year and will surely be a club to watch this year.
