A scattered municipality of the Upper Val Chisone, Pragelato hosted the Nordic skiing competition during the 20th Olympic Winter Games of Turin in 2006.
Pragelato takes its name from the Piedmontese expression Pragelà (icy meadow) which bears witness to the harsh weather experienced in winter. During the Olympic Winter Games, Pragelato was connected to the more famous neighbouring town Sestriere via a brand-new Pattemouche cable car – something that the Vialattea ski resort is extremely proud of.
