The winners of the alpine skiing World Cup races, that will take place in Sestriere December 10th and 11th, will be awarded unique trophies. For the occasion got on the track GIOARA , Revolutionary Glass Design, a young and dynamic business operating in Turin, to create sport-inspired items combining applied art and niche design. GIOARA was founded by Giorgio Gros and Chiara Ferraris, creative leaders of a team of national and international artists and designers, guided by Chiara’s twenty-year experience in the field of Excellence Artistic Crafts and Giorgio’s very long experience in the commercial field.
The 2016 trophies result from very original interpretations. The “Bouquet Trophy”, a reinterpretation of a floral tribute rendered through a bunch of glass skies in different heights and decorated to create a pink mirrored effect, will be awarded the giant slalom winners, while the “Crown Trophy”, a semicircle made up of three glass skies decorated in gold, silver and bronze enclosing a pink fused glass hexagon, the sporting event logo, to simulate a crown fit for the best athletes, will be awarded the special slalom winners.
Both sculptures prove the mastery in shaping glass, as if it was a plastic and not fragile material. The shaping work is supported by the usage of the latest technologies, resulting in an outburst of the event colours, which recall a dynamic, young and trendy femininity in line with the sporting event, Sestriere will become star of and turn pink for.
The trophies will be first showcased at ADPLOG – Via Piero Gobetti 10, Torino – Monday, December 5th at 18h30 by the patroness Stefania Belmondo in co-operation with the Vialattea.
